Entre ellos, el hormig\u00f3n reforzado con fibras de polipropileno es el que se ha desarrollado con mayor rapidez. Se utiliza ampliamente en carreteras debido a su excelente impermeabilidad, resistencia a las heladas, resistencia a los impactos, en aeropuertos, puentes, ingenier\u00eda hidr\u00e1ulica, construcci\u00f3n y otros campos. La magnitud de esta proporci\u00f3n de volumen viene determinada principalmente por la facilidad para mezclar la mezcla y el escenario de aplicaci\u00f3n del proyecto. Por ejemplo, las tensiones secundarias causadas por la retracci\u00f3n del hormig\u00f3n y los cambios de temperatura suelen controlarse con dosis bajas de fibras (de 0,1% a 0,3% en volumen). Cuando la dosis de fibras supera 0,3%, en comparaci\u00f3n con el hormig\u00f3n ordinario sin fibras, la respuesta mec\u00e1nica del hormig\u00f3n reforzado con fibras ser\u00e1 significativamente diferente, lo que se manifiesta principalmente en su capacidad portante tras la fisuraci\u00f3n. La capacidad del hormig\u00f3n reforzado con fibras para absorber energ\u00eda despu\u00e9s de agrietarse se denomina \"tenacidad\". Cuando se a\u00f1aden mayores dosis de fibras al hormig\u00f3n, adem\u00e1s de su tenacidad tras la fisuraci\u00f3n, el hormig\u00f3n reforzado con fibras presenta propiedades de refuerzo por deformaci\u00f3n.
