The Advantage of Steel Fibers in Shotcrete
TenaBrix® fibers for Shotcrete that complies with ASTM C 1116, Standard Specification for Fiber-Reinforced Shotcrete, and are specifically used to control and mitigate plastic shrinkage cracking, increase surface durability, impact, and abrasion resistance.
TenaBrix® products including macro/micro synthetic fibers provide three-dimensional reinforcement for both above-ground and below ground applications.
Scope of application
Tunnel initial support, slope support, mine tunnel, building reinforcement and other wet/dry spraying concrete projects.

Recommended amount of steel fiber added
Type |
Recommended Addition Amount |
Fiber Specification Recommendations |
---|---|---|
Primary tunnel support |
25~40 kg/m³ |
Length 30~35mm, Diameter 0.5~0.75mm |
Thin layer repair (<100mm) |
35-45 kg/m³ |
Length 25~30mm |
High-impact construction |
40-60 kg/m³ |
Length 35~50mm, End Hook Type |
The specific dosage should be verified by trial mixing to meet the requirements of flexural toughness of “steel fiber concrete” (JG/T 472).

FAQ
Exposed fibers on the surface of the spray coat
Reason:Improper spraying angle or troweling after final set.
Solution:Adjustment of gun angle; calendering before initial setting

Frequent clogging of pipes
Reason:Fiber clumping or too low a sand ratio.
Solution:Enhance fiber dispersion; increase sand rate 2%~3%

Early cracking
Reason:Uneven fiber distribution or insufficient maintenance.
Solution:Optimize mixing process; cover and maintain within 6h after spraying
